Description
Summary:This study investigated the different amounts of oil produced from soxhlet extraction using a different type of solvent and ratio of solvent and seed. A different solvent such as n-hexane and petroleum ether was used for the extraction of Calophyllum Inophyllum seed to study which solvent will yield more oil. The different ratio, which is 1:8 and 1:10 also studied to identify which ratio will produce the highest yield of oil. The results show that n-hexane had a high ability to yield a high amount of oil compare to petroleum ether. Ratio 1:10 also produce the highest yield of oil compare to 1:8, which it’s approved that the amount of oil was influenced by the amount of solvent seed. The biodiesel was produced using an optimised parameter, using NaOH as a catalyst and been tested using GC-MS. Hexadecanoic methyl ester, 8-11 Octadecadienoic methyl ester, cis-13-Eicosenoic acid methyl ester, eicosanoic acid methyl ester, and Docosanoic acid methyl ester was observed in biodiesel.
