Description
Summary:Polycrystalline films of CdxPb1−xS (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.069) substitutional solid solutions with a cubic B1 structure (space group Fm3¯m) were obtained by chemical bath deposition. The nonmonotonic dependence of the cadmium content in the films according to EDX analysis data compared with its content in the solid solution is associated with 29 and 31 mol.% of the amorphous CdS phase upon the introduction of 0.01 and 0.04 mol/l CdCl2. Further, the cadmium amount sharply decreases to 2.5 mol.% with CdCl2 increase to 0.08 mol/l in the reaction mixture. The effect of the phase and elemental composition study on the voltage and current sensitivity of the synthesized layers are presented. The I–V curves of the synthesized layers showed the photocurrent increase of 7.5–36 times over the dark current. The reasons for the photocurrent rise may be the spatial separation of the charge by acceptor states arising from the substitutional solid solution formation.
