Description
Summary:This report describes the ultrasonographic features of splenic subcapsular haematoma in two dogs with lymphoma. One dog presented for suspicion of pancreatitis and the other for persistent lethargy; both dogs had peripheral lymphadenomegaly. Abdominal ultrasound showed an avascular, subcapsular, hypoechoic region along the parietal surface of the spleen. Both dogs underwent exploratory laparotomy, during which a splenectomy and biopsies of the liver and lymph nodes were performed. Lymphoma was diagnosed via histopathology in both dogs. Atraumatic‐pathological splenic subcapsular haematomas have been reported in humans with lymphoma, but this is the first known report in veterinary medicine in patients with lymphoma.
