Summary:This paper analyzes the trajectory of the Goyana Association of Athletic Sports - AGEA (Associaçao Goyana de Esportes Athleticos, original version in Portuguese) in the state of Goiás' sports context between 1930 and 1934. The time frame considers records in the Correio Oficial - Estado de Goyaz, which point to the creation of the association in Cidade de Goiás, in 1930, as well as its participation and regional influence in sport; the debates imposed by different actors; and the elements that signaled its disappearance. Created to adapt the sport in Goiás to that practiced in larger urban centers, AGEA succumbed, mainly, by designing a model of institutionalization and sports organization that disregarded the local context and the complex sporting reality that already existed in the state of Goiás.
