Description
Summary:Foum Larjamme geosite from Bani Geopark project, south-east of Morocco, is characterised by the co-occurrence of geological, archaeological and historical heritage. However, the archaeological heritage is particularly more appreciated by the general public as it attests to the pre-existence of human beings. An integration analysis of these archaeological and geological heritages, based on field trips investigations and literature review of case studies, indicates that they are connected. Consequently, as well as their mutual enrichment, the destruction of the archaeological remains affects geoheritage as well. The integration of geology and archaeology in Foum Larjamme archaeo-geosite would link the local communities, inhabitants and local organisations, to the site’s geoheritage in order to involve them in geoconservation process. Furthermore, the importance of this integration has been revealed regarding the variation and the enrichment of tourism programmes especially that is the main economic sector in the region.
