Description
Summary:The present study aimed to adapt and validate the instrument «Perception of Student-Trainee about the Initial Training in Physical Education» (PEEFI), originally called in Portugal of «Student's Perception on Training and Profession», for the Brazilian reality. The research was characterized as a psychometric study, consisting of the following steps: 1) Adaptation of the instrument's questions; 2) Content validation; 3) Reproducibility and reliability; 4) Validation of the construct and 5) Evaluation of the instrument's internal consistency. The construct validation was performed with the original instrument (46 items) through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (AFC) in five stages according to the constructs (Agents, Teacher Training, Teacher Roles, Motivation for teaching and Conceptions of the teaching and learning process). After the AFC, the instrument was reduced to 38 items. It is possible to conclude that the validation of the instrument can provide relevant information to assist in improving the process of evaluating projects, programs and public policies related to the initial training of Physical Education teachers in Brazil.
