Summary: | Sorption of neodymium and thorium fluorides with activated carbons and zeolites of various grades from LiF–NaF–KF molten alkali metal fluorides was studied. It is shown that neodymium fluoride is sorbed more efficiently than thorium fluoride with both zeolites and activated carbons. The experimental data of the Nd(III) sorption isotherm by NaX zeolite are approximated by the Freundlich equation, in contrast to the sorption with AG-3 coal, where the data are described by the Langmuir equation. Possible variants of sorption mechanisms for various sorbents are considered. For Nd(III), a correlation was found between the sorption properties of carbons of different grades for the ratio of acidic and basic oxides per unit surface. |
