Description
Summary:Lost-wax casting is one of the promising ways to obtain high quality geometrically complex castings. The main factors affecting the properties of the casting is the quality of the front layer of the ceramic mold. Uniform application of a ceramic slurry on the wax model can be achieved if the wax surface is well-wetted by the dispersion medium of the slurry. Since the surface of the wax model is hydrophobic, and the dispersion medium of the ceramic suspension is water, an increase in wettability can be obtained not only by introducing surfactant-wetting agents into the composition of the suspension, but also by activating the surface of the model by chemical or physical methods. The results of an investigation of the influence of different various variants of chemical action on the wettability of the surface of a wax model are presented.
