Summary:Public universities contract an obligatory sense of responsibility with society as they live promoting ethical policy in their activities, training and development, it must be their raison d'être. The objective of the research was to identify the producer's opinion regarding decisions on what crop or crops would be adopted by consulting the territorial model for the agricultural diversification of crops with technical and economic viability in the municipality of Coatepec. This involved the development and application of a questionnaire integrating facts, opinions, attitudes and cognitions, applied in 17 localities and 67 producers. The purpose was to check their decision to diversify or not, based on the territorial model to choose the crop (s), where the result is that 68 % are willing to use the model and diversify into more than 10 crops while 32 % did not accept.
