Summary:This article defines the importance and significance of modern technologies in the field of energy saving of housing and communal services. A review of the main problems and reasons for their formation in the electric power industry as the main building industry of housing and communal services was carried out. Properties of energy system and means of their provision are considered. Special attention is paid to such a property as flexibility. In addition, the need for additional flexibility as a result of the integration of variable sources such as wind and photovoltaic energy has also been investigated. Requirements for flexibility and its sources are analyzed.
