Description
Summary:A polyhydroxyethyl acrylate was synthesized by the polymerization of the 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate monomer directly on nanocellulose fibers. The resultant material was studied by IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. The homogeneous distribution of the polymer on the cellulose fibrils accounts for its good moisture absorption with limited swelling, resistance to mechanical stress in the wet form as well as the possibility of repeated cyclic use with water absorption and removal.
