Summary: | During my editorship of this journal, coverage has begun to fall naturally into these sections, which I hope echo the preoccupations of TLs Australia-wide: * ASLA business and news * Reports on professional development * Spotlight on SNSL (Advocacy) * Reading and well-being * Information literacy and inquiry learning. Students enjoy displays, participate in their creation, join book clubs, participate in Australia-wide events, like Write a Book in a Day. * Fostering a love of reading is a major preoccupation of the library. * The library is essential to the teaching and learning of the school - this can look different in each school and may consist of leadership of the content and use of the learning management system of the school; detailed involvement in the inquiry learning of the school; and in the provision of resources tailored to the precise needs of assessment tasks in the school, through the use of, for example, Libguides. On the international school libraries scene, a report from Barbara Schultz-Jones and Diane Oberg on the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) meeting in Dublin in July to launch the book Global Action for School Libraries: Models of Inquiry. |
