Description
Summary:Melbourne’s Living Museum of the West is a community museum that is located in the Western region of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The Living Museum of the West has an abundance of resources, both secondary and primary, that inform visitors of environmental issues, Aboriginal history and cultural trends in the local area. In 2007 a collaborative team of practitioners involving The Living Museum of the West and the School of Education at Victoria University, Australia, came together to design a RIPE (Researching Innovative Partnerships in Education) project. This paper presents findings of the RIPE project. In particular it highlights the role of creating strategic partnerships between a museum, a local school and a local university. The use of an ‘interactive website’ as a tool for strengthening partnerships, creating innovative links to teaching and learning resources and improving overall learning outcomes for school students is also examined
