Description
Summary:Migration and trade are two significant elements fueling integration in the globalized world. The African continent has been working toward integration for over half a century with trade as one of its major drivers. Empirical studies have proven that migration promotes trade; this is evident in the movement of goods, services, and individuals. Individuals facilitate these dynamics within the region, and it is therefore inherent at this point to pay attention to the upsurge of migration within Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA). The phenomenon compounds the existing diversity found within the societal context under discussion. Subsequently, effective management of diversity has the capacity to enhance intra-trade in the region. Further, to validate the assertion above, an in-depth literature review was performed by discussing concepts of migration and trade as well as diversity with the elements therein synthesized. In essence, the contribution of this article to the ensuing debate is centered on the need to pay attention to the array of ethnic and cultural groups found in the region, and more importantly, the appreciation of immigrants’ uniqueness to ensure a sense of belonging through effective management of diversity and inclusion. The resultant effect of the approach employed portrayed a positive correlation between migration and intra-trade through the prism of diversity and inclusion. Finally, effective management of diversity and inclusion regarding immigrants can increase trade within Sub- Sahara Africa.
