Summary:The calculation (Thermo-Calc) and experimental (SEM, EMPA, DSC, and XRD) methods were used to study the phase diagram of the Al–Ca–Mn system in the Al-corner region, including the liquidus surface and parameters of the peritectic reaction L + Al 6 Mn → (Al) +Al 10 CaMn 2 . Under real solidification conditions, this reaction is incomplete; because of this, Al 6 Mn-phase crystals are also present in the cast structure.
