description The research materials on the assessment of the fry distribution conditions and the kinematic characteristics of the stream in front of the louver screen of the fish protection structure of the ameliorative water intake of the pumping station NS-42 in.the Rostov region are presented. The efficiency of conservation of fish stocks in the economic use of water resources depends on the conditions ensuring the reliability of the functioning of the fish protection complex of the water intake structure. The hydraulic and biological studies were carried out during the active fry emigration and intake functioning and included work on the assessment of the hydraulic characteristics of the stream in the intake chamber, as well as on the study of the ichthyofauna distribution patterns in the intake area and directly fish protection structure. According to research results, the values of the kinematic parameters of the flow, in particular the current and flow rates in the intake-chamber and along the length of the louver screen, are estimated, in addition, the patterns of the spatial and temporal fry distribution within the intake structure and the indicators of ichthyofauna emigration of the water source are obtained.
