description | The pandemic has brought upon us a time where people fear physical contact with one another no matter how little it is. On this note, we find many hospitals and clinics require to get close to a patient to get his/ her vital signs, especially heartbeat, BPM, Oxygen Saturation level, etc. This basic need to measure all these vitals in a contact-less fashion has been growing ever since the pandemic. This project proposes a solution that makes a substantial alternative to sonography (stethoscope) or photoplethysmography. The proposed system uses microwaves and illustrates how this could be used in sensing the heart rate by applying a simple concept in physics, the dopplers effect. This sensor could be thus used in a wide range of bio-telemetry applications and intelligent appliances. This sensor also opens up a new perspective for physical data collection, not just limited to the heartbeat. Also, the radar functionality gives us three different waveforms one the breathing rate, two the heart rate, and three the external noise added due to physical movement or interference due to other objects. |
