Description
Summary:Knowledge; Livestock; Practice; Zoonotic Disease INTRODUCTION Banaskantha is the second largest district of Gujarat. [...]Banaskantha shares 14.4% of cattle and 14.2% of buffaloes of Gujarat and ranks 1st in volume of cattle and buffaloes in the state. More than 2/3rd of inhabitants of this district are engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture. [...]as a large population is coming in contact with animals, the chances of getting infected by zoonotic microorganisms are very high. [4] Due to a lack of competent laboratory diagnostic facilities, insufficient skilled people, and a lack of communication and cooperation between the public health, veterinary, agriculture, and wildlife sectors, the identification and diagnosis of zoonotic illnesses have been significantly delayed. [...]the main reason of lack of knowledge about zoonotic diseases in majority of livestock handlers could be low education level and lack of training programs and special campaign to create awareness regarding zoonotic diseases. [1] Sample size was further inflated by 10% to take care of non-response, incomplete response, refusals, and withdrawals. [...]final sample size was 180.
