Description
Summary:The article discusses the possibility of reducing the adhesive component of the friction force between the cutting surface of a tool and the workpiece. For this, it is proposed to create hydrophobic structures on the surface of a cutting tool by applying laser ablation of nanosecond duration. Hydrophobic structures with double roughness are formed on the textured surface of the cutting plates. Experimental studies of the modification of the surface of cutting plates by the method of laser ablation in air and in liquid were carried out. As a result of pulsed laser ablation of cutting plates, the wetting angles increased 2-3 times compared to the plates without surface modification. Consequently, nanosecond duration laser treatment of cutting surfaces will reduce the force of friction and increase the life of the cutting tool.
