Description
Summary:In the present study, the spherical zinc powder has been synthesized using distillation method. The raw material of zinc ingot was heated at a temperature of 950 °C in a reactor chamber under inert argon gas flow at 1 bar. In order to obtain the zinc powder, the zinc vapor from the distillation reactor is sucked up by turning the vacuum system on and off, alternately. The 3D optical microscope and SEM were used to evaluate the microstructure of the powder. The X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and EDX analysis were used to investigate the phase and elemental composition, respectively. The results showed that the high purity of spherical zinc powder has a particle size of less than 15 µm. The zinc powder was then applied as paint coating on 15 × 7.5 × 1 cm steel plate. The coating properties were evaluated according to the paint application standard. The distilled zinc powder have a good decision for anticorrosion paint coating use.
