Summary: | Hyptolide has an α,β unsaturated lactone framework with the molecular formula C18H24O8. α,β unsaturated lactone compounds have biological activities such as anticancer and antitumor. However, compounds belonging to lactone compounds or lactone rings are easily hydrolyzed, unstable, and insoluble in water make their release in the body take place quickly, so encapsulation is necessary to control the release in the body. This study aimed to obtain an encapsulation product with three coatings (calcium-alginate, chitosan-tripolyphosphate, and calcium-alginate/chitosan). The encapsulated product provides various beads shapes. Hip-alg is round, solid, stiff, and has a brownish-black color, hip-cts is a solid, round, and has a brownish yellow color and hip-alg/cts is a solid that is round, solid, stiff, and has a brownish beige color. The encapsulation efficiency values of hip-alg/cts, hip-alg, and hip-cts encapsulation product were 88,12%, 53,1%, and 43,7%, respectively while the loading capacity values were 2,07%, 0,73%, and 0,23%. The highest value of encapsulation efficiency and loading capacity is shown by the product hip-alg/cts. The release profile of the hip-alg/cts was far superior to that of the hip-alg and hip-cts. In this case, product hip-alg/cts can be a good way to control the release of hyptolide. FTIR analysis showed that there was an interaction between the hyptolide and the alginate, chitosan, alginate-chitosan coating as indicated by the absorption shift. SEM characterization showed that the hip-alg/cts had a more wrinkled and lumpy morphology than the product hip-alg and hip-cts. In the resulting product, it can be concluded that the appropriate product encapsulation is a product with coated hip-alg/cts. |
