Description
Summary:Al6061 alloys are widely used in automobile industries. However, they possess certain drawbacks such as lower strength, lower wear resistance etc. Therefore, nowadays ceramic reinforcements such as Silicon carbide, graphite are added to the matrix Aluminium alloy to improve its strength and wear resistance properties and they are replacing conventional materials to a great extent. Therefore, in this research work, such Aluminium composites are subjected to ageing treatment at 175°C and the effect of ageing on hardness and tensile strength are investigated. From the experiments carried out, it was observed that the ageing treatment increases both hardness and tensile strength of Al6061 composites.
