Description
Summary:At the Tien Shan Mountain Station of the Lebedev Physical Institute, equipment was developed for continuous multichannel monitoring of the radiation background intensity, both in the surface atmosphere and at a depth of 50–100 m below the ground surface, as well as for recording of electromagnetic fields, acoustic signals, and groundwater level variations in the deep borehole at the station territory. The objective of the experiment is the search for characteristic signals-indicators of increasing seismic activity in the earthquake-prone region surrounding the Tien Shan station. This report describes the system of detectors installed in the underground borehole and presents some experimental results confirming the prospects for such studies for the search for earthquake signals-precursors.
