Several species are known from the USA, Canada, Indonesia (Island of Timor), Japan, and probably China. Based on the study of materials from Bashkortostan (Shakhtau quarry), Verkhoyansk Region and the Polar Urals, and published data, the diagnostic characters of the genus are re-evaluated, and its diagnosis and species composition are emended.
