Description
Summary:The stories, narratives, and experiences of Black male mathematics students and educators are graining traction in the literature. With that, the field of education is calling for efforts to empower Black male students in mathematics. This article reports on one effort-a symposium specifically designed to mathematically empower Black male students. More precisely, Black men speak in this article by sharing reflections about the symposium, especially in light of the fact that the first author was the organizer and the co-authors consisted of a unique panel of three Black male mathematics educators at the event. Furthermore, our research agendas are shared, which are not meant to be prescriptive, but to highlight how our respective research efforts advance mathematics achievement outcomes for Black students in K-16 contexts.
