Summary: | The purpose of the study was to obtain information on the impact of smartphone use on students' interest and Grade Point Average (GPA) in learning physics. The study used a quantitative approach and survey method on 121 students of physics education study program who had used Smartphones for the implementation of learning. Secondary data on the GPA were taken from the archives of the Physics Education Study Program, while the primary data used a 25-item questionnaire for measuring interest in learning and 13 items for measuring Smartphone use. Data analysis uses inferential statistics to obtain information on the influence of Smartphone use on interest and GPA. The results of the analysis show that the use of Smartphones has a positive effect on interest in learning and also the GPA of students in the Physics Education Study Program. The inference from the results of the study is the use of Smartphones as a medium in learning physics in particular and generally in science subjects, it is necessary to set a usage schedule, both in terms of time and from web addresses accessed by students. Free use of smartphones during the learning process will have a negative impact on student concentration and discipline. |
