Summary:The article addresses the issues of the justification of standard values of power system adequacy metrics, which are used in determining the level of redundancy of generating capacity as well as the structure of the power grid and the transmission capacity of lines of the main network. We propose a comprehensive methodology for justifying the standard level of probability of shortage-free operation. The comprehensive nature of the methodology consists in the application of a multidimensional approach, which includes a sequence of steps that adjust the standard values of the probability of shortage-free operation: economic justification; justification from the standpoint of the level of reliability of technological links of the power system; justification based on experimental research calculations; justification from the standpoint of past experience of power system operation; justification based on expert judgments.
