Summary: | Environmental problems can be overcome with good problem-solving skills. Environmental problem-solving skills can be developed through environmental literacy. This study aims to determine the relationship between problem-solving skills and environmental literacy at Senior High School 1 Turen. This survey research uses a correlational design. The sample was 201 students of Classes XII majoring in Science, Social, and Language Department who were selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection using problem-solving skill test (adapted from the stage of problem-solving skills) and environmental literacy test (adapted from the Middle School Environmental Literacy Survey/Instrument (MSELS)) which distributes using Google Forms. Data analysis used Pearson correlation with a significance of 0.05. Based on the significance value obtained is 0.004, indicating that there is a relationship between problem-solving skills and environmental literacy. The coefficient interval indicates that problem-solving skills on environmental literacy have a coefficient of 0.21 so that it can be categorized as a low relationship. Problem-solving skills can help individuals in preventing and solving environmental problems. The low relationship between problem-solving skills and environmental literacy can be caused by several factors, including motivation, individual thinking, and learning programs/activities. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop learning tools and integrate environmental materials in learning to train students’ problem-solving skills and improve students’ environmental literacy. |
