Description
Summary:Desiccant dehumidification system is a very potential alternative against the conventional air drying or dehumidification system with many advantages. As compared to the conventional dehumidification systems it consumes less power and release very less or no chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) to the environment which is the main cause for depletion of ozone layer and global warming. Different types of desiccant materials are reviewed in this paper. This paper illustrates about the working principles of different desiccant dehumidified air drying and cooling systems. This paper also overviews the applications of desiccant dehumidification system and the performance of desiccant dehumidifier. A comparative study of various desiccant dehumidified drying and cooling systems is also reviewed and it shows that comparatively solid desiccant is cost effective and is eco-friendly. After briefly reviewing the desiccant system it is found that the desiccant system is very useful for drying of food materials because of its low initial costs, low energy requirements and due to its non polluting nature.
