Description
Summary:In this article, which appears in the current issue of New Labor Forum, I argue that the U.S. labor movement's resurgence will require systematic coordination across the multiple and sometimes competing groups who organize workers, including worker centers, alt-labor organizations, racial justice organizations, and left third parties. The article draws upon the public sector unionization wave of the 1960s, especially its roots in the Black Freedom Struggle, as the last successful case of this kind of eclectic mass movement.
