Summary:Tehemton Erach Udwadia (1934–2023) is regarded as the “Father of Laparoscopic Surgery in India”. His demise recently left a void in the academic world, and his role in making the Indian Journal of Surgery a reputed and highly popular journal for the Indian surgical fraternity will always remain as a milestone. He was the Chief Editor of the Indian Journal of Surgery from 2001 to 2003. He was a true visionary who understood and could foresee the reach of the Indian Journal of Surgery and therefore initiated the web-based peer review and online manuscript management system for the first time for the journal.
