DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF AN ENGINEERING METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE VIBRATION AMPLITUDE OF SPAN STRUCTURES

An engineering method is proposed for determining the amplitudes of vortex-induced vibrations, which accounts for the dependence of the excitation force coefficient, the Strouhal number, and the logarithmic decrement on the vibration amplitude of a structure, as well as the correlation distribution...

Description
Summary:An engineering method is proposed for determining the amplitudes of vortex-induced vibrations, which accounts for the dependence of the excitation force coefficient, the Strouhal number, and the logarithmic decrement on the vibration amplitude of a structure, as well as the correlation distribution of aerodynamic force pulsations along the length of a structure. This method also includes the Eurocode method as a special case and, in contrast to the known ones, makes it possible to more reliably calculate the amplitudes of vortex-induced vibrations of span structures.
