One of the functions of the mold flux (MF) for continuous casting of steel is to reduce heat losses during the casting process. The thermophysical characteristics of MF depend on the type (granular or powder), component composition and bulk density. In this work, the values of the effective thermal conductivity coefficient of the bulk layer of mold fluxes are obtained depending on the bulk density and temperature for granular and powder industrial compositions. At a temperature of 900°C, the effective thermal conductivity coefficient for granular and powder can be expressed as:
= 0.475ρ – 0.0334 and
= 0.1609ρ + 0.158, respectively. |
