Summary:Although the problems associated with the reliability of software in the program code cloning are mentioned quite often, the relevance of these issues remains almost unchanged from year to year. In many popular projects, the number of clones is measured in hundreds or even thousands. Many different approaches to clone detection have been proposed in recent years to solve the duplication problem, but the majority of them do not take into account the semantic properties of the software source code. In this paper, the author emphasizes the importance of detecting and removing clones, replacing them with procedures or functions, in order to improve software reliability and reduce potential errors.
