Estimating the Yield Point from the Structural Parameters of Ferrite–Pearlite Steels

The influence of various strengthening mechanisms on the yield point of carbon and low-alloy steels is investigated. For hot-rolled St.5ps steel, the yield point is most affected by solid-solution hardening and grain-boundary hardening; for 16G2AF low-alloy steel, these mechanisms are also accompani...

Description
Summary:The influence of various strengthening mechanisms on the yield point of carbon and low-alloy steels is investigated. For hot-rolled St.5ps steel, the yield point is most affected by solid-solution hardening and grain-boundary hardening; for 16G2AF low-alloy steel, these mechanisms are also accompanied by dispersional hardening. Thermomechanical treatment of St.5ps steel increases the dislocational hardening as a result of change in the density of dislocations and their retention in accelerated cooling of hot-deformed austenite on rolling.
