Summary:A simple, sensitive, and selective colorimetric method based on gold nanoparticles for ethion detection has been reported. It is based on the mechanism that ethion can greatly change the color of AuNPs solution. This colorimetric method exhibited high sensitivity for ethion. Due to the intrinsic specificity of the self-assembly of gold nanoparticles, this colorimetric method has potential value in the analysis of agricultural residues.
