Description
Summary:In the article we study primary corrosion protection of centrifugal reinforced concrete poles which is complete replacement of both longitudinal and transverse steel reinforcement by composite one. Difficulties, which occur during prestressing of composite reinforcement, are briefly outlined and the list of fiber reinforced polymer rebar (FRP) prestressing equipment patents is given. The method of testing of concrete poles for high-voltage transmission lines is given with deflection, crack resistance and strength values verification. The test results of full-scale samples of centrifugal concrete poles with longitudinal and transverse fiberglass rebar (GFRP) are shown. According to the results the studied centrifugal concrete poles with prestressed longitudinal GFRP rebars and transverse spiral GFRP rebars are similar to traditional ones with steel reinforcement (in strength, crack resistance and deflection values) and, therefore, can be used in building construction.
