Description
Summary:The explosive growth of ICT has opened a vast arena providing opportunities for businesses, particularly SMEs to sell their products and service to a global audience than they would have been able to afford to reach using the traditional methods. The research reports on the empirical study of ICT adoption in small to medium-sized enterprises. The study is chosen because of the strategic importance of SMEs to the economy and their contribution in creating jobs. The research used a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative approach, conceptualized within the grounded theory method to generate thick description to explain the phenomenon. The quantitative survey phase was to elicit background information about SMEs and to obtain a preliminary understanding of ICT usage and to discover relationships that are common across SMEs and hence provide generalizable statements on how they use ICT in business. While the qualitative phase used case study to elicit qualitative information to complement the shortcomings of the survey method. Grounded theory technique was used to analyze the case data.
