Summary:Currently, the process of urbanization in the suburban districts of Ho Chi Minh City is taking place strongly, making the land use change rapidly and complicatedly. The use of satellite images for land inventory has been implemented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Viet Nam in localities and has proven its superiority in objectivity and economic efficiency, including Spot 5 satellite images. This paper is based on the authors’ research on the application of Spot 5 satellite images to monitor and evaluate land use changes to establish a current land use maps and map of land use changes in the periods 2010–2015, 2015–2018 in District Nha Be.
