Summary:Balongga fruit (Cucumis melo L. forma agrestis) is a group of plants that is used as a source of food and medicine for the Tolaki people. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the extract of Balongga fruit (Cucumis melo L. forma agrestis) against Escherichia coli bacteria. The research was conducted by phytochemical testing with test parameters including saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids. Furthermore, testing the effectiveness of the extract using the agar well method. The test extract samples in this study were made with concentrations of 30%, 60%, and 90%. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the Balongga fruit contained saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. The results of testing the effectiveness of the extract of balongga fruit against Escherichia coli ATCC 35218 at a concentration of 30% of 6.76 mm, at a concentration of 60% of 6.35, and a concentration of 90% of 7.86 mm.
