Summary: | Research cacao pod husks (CPH) waste for feed and feed additives turmeric for goats has been much published, especially for the performance and carcass. The use of CPH and turmeric in feed for performance and goat carcass responded differently according to the level of addition in the ratio. The use of CPH and turmeric in feed is considered a strategy to utilize waste feed and improve the ration quality. The nutritional content of CPH is sufficient for livestock, namely 8.69% crude protein, 42.55% crude fiber, 2.74% fat, 31.41% non-nitrogen free extract (NNFE), and turmeric contains curcumin which can stimulate appetite. CPH also contains anti-nutritional substances to interfere when given directly as feed. To maximize the potential of CPH, it is necessary to carry out physical, chemical, and biological processing to increase the nutritional content and eliminate anti-nutritional substances. Processing and adding turmeric will maximize performance and carcass response. It was concluded that the use of CPH and turmeric in feed was able to meet the need for feed throughout the year and improve the performance and carcass of goats which were expected to increase goat production in cocoa plantation centers. |
