Summary: | Excessive floor vibration due to human excitation is a significant serviceability concern in buildings and other long span structures. The use of lightweight materials, nominal furniture and open plan layouts is resulting in lighter floors with lower damping than traditional older floors and hence an increased risk of excessive vibration response. This paper provides insights into walking excitation, floor response and remedial actions for floors with excessive vibrations. |
