Summary: | The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in the 2020-2021 period requires changes in all elements, especially in the field of education. Teaching and learning activities that are usually carried out face-to-face have turned into online learning. The existence of this change requires adaptation and innovation from various parties, both teachers, lecturers, students and students. Online learning strategies require a dynamic innovation in order to facilitate the social interaction of students directly with the environment. Good communication skills are needed to be able to compete in today’s era. One of the learning methods that can train communication skills is the case method which focuses on analyzing environmental problems. Students are required to find problems independently as well as design a solution to these problems. Interactions formed in online learning can be assisted by virtual technology that presents real conditions that occur in the environment. One of the virtual technologies that can be presented is the use of virtual laboratories in the form of videos and pictures taken directly in the environment for students to learn through access to gadgets owned by students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the case method based on virtual experiments on the communication skills of prospective science teacher students. The research method used is an experimental method with a one shot case study design. The research method was carried out by measuring communication skills after being treated in the form of case learning methods based on virtual experiments. The research was carried out in four meetings with a sample of even semester 2020/2021 students. The final data analysis of the study was carried out by analyzing the communication skills of science students. The data that has been analyzed is then described in a graph for each meeting. Each subsequent meeting was analyzed and discussed the improvement obtained descriptively quantitatively. The results obtained after the treatment of this study are that there are 4 indicators of communication skills with a percentage of 94% of students having the ability to understand other people’s ideas, 91% of students having the ability to judge other people’s opinions, 87% of students having the ability to develop active statements and 94% having the ability develop a common understanding.
