Summary:In this paper, we react to the systematic review of the women’s career development literature conducted by Fouad et al. in this issue. We identify a variety of structural barriers that we believe have contributed to the limited advancements of research in this area. In line with recent discussions within the profession, we highlight systemic approaches across the areas of vocational psychology teaching and training, advocacy and practice, and research that are aimed to promote future research on women and work.
