Description
Summary:In the present study, the tribological behaviour of the aluminum (AA8011) matrix composite with TiC as reinforcement was reported. The tribological performance was quantified with wear rate and the coefficient of friction. The effect of the tribological parameters like the sliding speed and the applied load by varying the sliding speed from 1 m/s to 5 m/s and applied load from 10 N to 30 N was reported. The increase in the sliding speed reduced the wear rate while the increase in applied load increased the wear rate. The wear mechanisms were discussed with the help of scanning electron micrographs if worn surfaces.
