Summary: | Laser surface texturing is one of the laser ablation methods to enhance the tribological properties of a material. In the present analysis, laser texturing is done on a low carbon steel by using a nano-second pulsed laser at 532 and 1064 nm wavelengths and at frequency of 1-10 Hz and pulse duration of 8 ns. The effect of pulse number on laser texture depth at constant laser fluence is studied. It is found that texture depth increases with increase in pulse number. Moreover, laser wavelength of 532 nm produced higher texture depth as compared to 1064 nm wavelength at constant laser fluence and pulse number. |
