Summary:During the operation of diesel engines, the surfaces of the main and connecting rod journals wear out. Cracks of various locations are often found on the journals of the shafts. The article describes the analysis of the occurrence of cracks, the establishment of the causes of their occurrence and the determination of methods for the restoration of crankshafts with cracks. A magnetic flaw detector was used to detect cracks. The classification of cracks on the journals of diesel crankshafts into fatigue and technological ones is given.
