Summary: | The paper demonstrates our experience in implementing instrumentation to define characteristics of such two-phase cryogenic flows as helium, hydrogen, LNG (liquefied natural gas), and flows of water-oil-gas. Two kinds of these systems are presented. The first kind of devices is based on combination of a narrowing device and a capacitance void fraction sensor. These systems can be applied for superconducting accelerators operating at temperatures T of about 4 K, liquid hydrogen system at T ≈ 20 K for space ships and oil production industry as well. The second kind of devices is carried out as a conjunction of a narrowing device with a gamma-densitometer. These flowmeters can be used for monitoring the oil-water mixtures and LNG flows. Different temperature sensors and a measuring system for them are also presented. For example, the TVO sensor with negative temperature coefficient is manufactured of carbon grains within micronized aluminum oxide substrate. The characteristics obtained for different flowmeters are discussed. Some features of separationless flowmeter for three-phase water-oil-gas flows are also considered. |
