Summary: | Chiral 2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridines (tpys) are of particular importance in coordination chemistry and supramolecular self-assembly on account of their unique spatial configuration and outstanding coordination ability. Thanks to the advance of synthetic strategies based on the Kröhnke reaction, a number of chiral terpene-fused tpys (cttpys) have been synthesized and have greatly promoted the construction of cttpy-based molecular complexes, supramolecular architectures and metallo-polymers. This review summarizes the progress of cttpy-based complexes and metallo-polymers in the past decades, aiming to shed more light on the design and construction of novel supramolecular architectures and metallo-polymers with high precision and multiple functions through coordination. |
