Description
Summary:Analysis of changed requirements applied to main characteristics of electric propulsion systems in advanced spacecraft used for a variety of purposes is carried out. The possibility of creating thrusters with closed electron drift with a high specific impulse as well as with the abilities to regulate main parameters in a wide range and to operate on alternative propellants for application in propulsion systems of advanced spacecraft is considered. This type of thrusters can be used for a variety of tasks including SC orbit correction and its attitude control as well as the implementation of transport missions in near-Earth and deep space. Alternative propellants application is reasonable in case of main propellant-xenon shortage connected with deployment of multi-satellite constellations consisting of thousands of SC or due to development of high-power space tugs with electric propulsion requiring a huge amount of propellant for transport mission realization.
